History
Placename Origin
Davistown: Davistown was named for the concentration of the Davis family members living in this part of Cockle Creek. In 1851 the shipwright Benjamin Davis purchaced the former James Marks property Burramum. Ben (for who Bensville was later named) subsequently sold portions of his land to his shipwright brothers Thomas, Rock and Edward. The area came to be populated with the Davis' and their families, hence the name Davistown.
Stillwaters Site
In the late 1940's the site of Stillwaters Restaurant was the Davistown local store, that also served as a butchers and a petrol station. This served the community well until it later became the Davistown Store.
